Large Texas County Government Agency
Challenge: The Client faced the following challenges:
- Permit requests were submitted by contractors and citizens via manual forms, which, when not properly filled out created a complex re-submission process that was difficult to track.
- Processing and research were both performed manually, sometimes taking days to research all the necessary information to validate that the permit request was free of encumbrances against the permit request location.
- Inspection scheduling was performed via physical white boards, and trip/resource optimization was not possible to a great degree, thereby wasting time and resources (both human and consumables).
Solution: Idea Dynamics Solutions architected and implemented the solution using Microsoft Dynamics CRM as the development platform. Multiple Idea Practice teams collaborated on the project with the Idea Dynamics Solutions team, including Idea Interactive for design, Idea GIS for Geospatial development, and Idea Integration Development for database, SharePoint, and externally facing website development. Solution functional points include:
- Deployment of Microsoft Dynamics CRM as the development platform and data management engine for all permit requests and workflows.
- Customization of Microsoft Dynamics CRM to accommodate complex requirements from the client
- Tight integration with GIS, SharePoint and Windows Workflow to provide a detailed view of not only the permit status through the approval process, but an in-depth graphical view of all related information on the specific geographical location of the permit request.
Benefits: The resulting system provides online access to both citizens/developers and the associated county personnel working the permit request. The following benefits are projected:
- Decrease in permit turnaround time of 27% due to increased research and approval workflow efficiency
- Increased resource efficiencies from use of GIS tools integrated with scheduling logic.
- Underlying data warehouse centralizes formerly disparate data, allowing for “single version of the truth”
